A lot changes in 4 years.
September 11th, 2005. Regardless of the truth or falsity of the official 9/11 reports, the consequences remain the same: In 8 hours, 4 years ago, 3000 people will lie dead below the smoldering ruins of the towers. To the immediate victims of the attacks and to the hundreds of thousands of civilians we've killed in the newly ruined countries of Afghanistan and Iraq, we owe it to them to cut through the lies and paranoia introduced by the Bush administration in their name.
Regardless of whether 9/11 was really an attack by foreign terrorists or not, the fact remains that the events of that day have been construed by the government and media to wage war for oil under the false guise of "national security." That day has been made to stifle free speech and erode our most basic freedoms of privacy and independent thought.
We've been had - it's a big sham, the whole thing. Everything from the 9/11 reports to the blatantly obvious and false notions that Iraq had WMD's or links to Al Qeida has been carefully engineered to fool you into supporting the violence and economic impoverishment of the world, all under the false and elusive guise of "freedom"
No matter what the truth is, it doesn't make that day any less tragic. Mourn them this day, but always remember those profiteering gluttons in power here who have benefited immensely from their deaths.
